With 49-3, “the government is slipping away”, says Iséroise MP Elisa Martin (LFI)

Government spokesman Olivier Véran warned him yesterday, the executive should resort to article 49-3
“probably” this Wednesday, October 19, in order to have the 2023 budget adopted without a vote. And that outrages the entire opposition, which plans to table motions of censure. The Isère deputy LFI Elisa Martin confirms this on France Bleu Isère.

France Bleu Isère: Do you think the employees should continue this strike, especially at Total where there are general meetings this morning?

Elisa Martin: I believe that today we can estimate that if the employees want – and it is quite legitimate at Total and elsewhere – to benefit from salary increases, then yes they will have to continue to mobilize.

Nupes elected officials are to meet union leaders (CGT, FSU and Solidaires) tonight. To prepare what? A joint event?

There are a number of exchanges that take place, each obviously retains its autonomy, especially on the watchwords. But there is undoubtedly a need today to discuss together, it seems necessary. Sunday’s march (organized by LFI) was a very popular, very large march, both political, union, associative and supported by a certain number of personalities. I think that’s kind of the spirit of what’s going on in the country.

That’s for work in the street and in the Assembly, the government should draw 49-3 today to pass the budget. This means, we recall, that the government assumes responsibility for this text. The opposition can table a motion of censure. Will you do it?

Indeed, the government, until last night, did not want to tell us exactly when it was going to “draw” the 49-3. This still means that the government is shying away from the National Assembly, but more particularly with regard to the amendments that had been voted on in a democratic way, we are obviously thinking of the tax on dividends. .. This is something which on a democratic level is particularly open to criticism. And we can see again how much the government does not want to take national representation into account.

The government announces all the same that it should keep 80 or 100 amendments from the opposition… To come back to the motion of censure, are you going to table one?

Of course, we will table a motion of censure. The question is not whether they will generously grant us this or that amendment. The question, it is to note today that the government slips away, does not want to have the debate with the whole of the deputies to build this budget of the nation.

For this motion of censure to be adopted, the entire opposition must vote against, from the left to the extreme right. So you are ready to vote with the RN to bring down the government?

No, we are absolutely not there today. Everyone will decide, of course, and each member will vote according to his own choice. But today, we are not there. We will obviously table a motion of censure and everyone will vote according to their choice.

But in any case, if the RN files one, you are not going to vote for the same motion of censure?

No, clearly

You were elected only four months ago. If eventually the government is overthrown, are you ready to return to the voters? And what does that mean?

We are not afraid of the people. When there is a dissolution, the people are asked to express themselves again. Well, there would of course be no difficulty in participating in this democratic exercise for Nupes, for France Insoumise. Democracy, the people do not scare us, which is probably not the case on the government side…
