Winnipeg to host Gray Cup game in 2025

The 2025 Gray Cup game will be played at IG Field in Winnipeg. The leaders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) made the official announcement on Tuesday. This will be the fifth time it has been played in Winnipeg, and the first since 2015.

“As a proud Winnipegger, I’m absolutely thrilled to announce the return of the Gray Cup game to my hometown,” said CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie. “I’m excited for the city, the province of Manitoba, and all of our fans across the country. »

The announcement comes after the CFL awarded Vancouver the hosting of the 2024 edition; Winnipeg had also submitted its bid for the event.

“The CFL’s loudest and most passionate fans will be ready to showcase our province and our city to all who visit us from across the country as we host the 112th Gray Cup at our home stadium. said Blue Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller. “We’re ready to show Canada again that Manitoba knows how to host an event like this and welcome CFL fans. »

The 2023 game is November 19 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton. This will be the 12th time the Ontario city has hosted the Gray Cup final.

Besides 2015, Winnipeg also hosted the event in 1991, 1998 and 2006. All three games were played at Canad Inns Stadium, demolished in April 2013.
