It is undoubtedly the most beautiful victory of his career: in October 2021 Sonny Colbrelli won Paris-Roubaix in dantesque conditions by playing with the rain, Vermeersh and Van der Poel. A surprising success, for an amazing year 2021: before Paris-Roubaix, Colbrelli had been crowned Italian champion and European champion at 31 years old.
But after the rain, it was the storm that hit Colbrelli, the Bahrain-Mérida rider suffered a heart attack. He never recovered from it and has just announced the end of his career.
A stone in the skin
To celebrate his career, Sonny Colbrelli decided to adorn himself with a magnificent tattoo. He has just revealed on Instagram a photo of his arm with a cobblestone, the mention “Roubaix” and the Arenberg trench. This tattoo sums up his whole life on the bike: “first of all cycling, a passion that I had to give up, then the Arenberg forest which is the most famous and hardest cobblestone sector of Paris-Roubaix my greatest victory ever and Vittoria with Tomaso on my shoulder, my strength and my life“. Sonny Colbrelli ends his comment with “all dreams are made to come true“.
