Opponents of wind turbines are mobilizing. In France, most of the projects are contested. More than 200 people demonstrated on Saturday 23 October in front of the prefecture of Le Mans, in Sarthe.
When Elisabeth Langlais chose to settle in Crissé, in Sarthe, she was delighted with its view of the landscape. About twenty projects are under study in the departement. Associations of residents and elected representatives of rural communities are mobilizing to to challenge Prefecture. They denounce a lack of consultation. However, the government does not intend to turn its back on this green energy: the park is expected to increase from 9,000 to 14,500 wind turbines within seven years. To avoid potential mobilizations and legal action, a plan has been launched for more controlled development. In particular, it provides for the consultation of mayors and the reduction of noise pollution and luminous.
