La Coupole, History Center and 3D Planetarium
The dome, built by the Todt organization in 1943/1944 is one of the most monumental witnesses of the Second World War. A 55,000-ton concrete dome protects what was to be a V2 launch pad. Today, it houses an astonishing museum on the North of France in the war as well as the history of the conquest of space which begins with the secret weapons of Hitler, manufactured by deportees in the concentration camp of Dora in Germany. The Nazi engineers recovered by the Allies in 1945 then developed space programs until Man’s first steps on the moon.
The dome, it’s also a 10k-3D Planetarium. At the heart of completely redesigned equipment, discover space as you have never seen it before thanks to a technology unique in the world! (Please note, for reasons related to the bad weather of last June, the 3D Planetarium of The dome is closed for an indefinite period.)
