(Wimbledon) Italian Lorenzo Musetti (25e world) was able to control the powerful service of the Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (58) on Monday.e) to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 and reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.
Musetti will face German Alexander Zverev (4e) or the American Taylor Fritz (12e) for a place in the last four.
The 22-year-old Italian, who is taking part in the grass-court Major for the fourth time, will be playing in his first Grand Slam quarter-final.
Mpetshi Perricard, who celebrated his 21st birthday on Mondaye birthday, thus completing his best Grand Slam run in 8e final. He had never won a single match in a Major, having been beaten twice in the first round of Roland-Garros.
At Wimbledon this year, he was eliminated in the third round of qualifying, but was brought back in just before the start of the tournament following the withdrawal of Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich.
