Wimbledon | Djokovic passes easily in the third round





(Wimbledon) Favorite Novak Djokovic easily beat Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the second round of Wimbledon on Wednesday.

The holder of six career titles on the lawn of the All England Club – including the last three – will face in the next round his fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, who defeated the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo with difficulty 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3 ), 3-6 and 6-3.

In addition, the French Open finalist, Casper Ruud, bowed out in the second round. The Norwegian, seeded third in the tournament, was upset 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 and 6-4 by Frenchman Ugo Humbert on court no 2.

Kontaveit has never reached the fourth round on the London lawn – the only Grand Slam tournament where she has never made it. She was participating in the Wimbledon tournament for the eighth time. Moreover, it was Kontaveit’s first game on grass this season.
