Wimbledon | Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu in mixed doubles

(London) Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu will play mixed doubles at Wimbledon, tournament organisers announced on Wednesday, bringing together two of the biggest stars in British tennis.

Murray, 37, has won three career Grand Slam titles, including at the All England Club in 2013 and 2016. Raducanu, 21, won the 2021 U.S. Open at the age of 18 and became the youngest qualifier to lift the trophy at a major tournament.

Murray withdrew from the Wimbledon singles tournament on Tuesday, just over a week after undergoing surgery to remove a cyst from his spine. He still plans to compete in the men’s doubles tournament with his older brother Jamie.

Murray has said this is his final appearance as a player at Wimbledon. He plans to formally announce his retirement after the Paris Olympics, which begin later this month.

The All England Club granted Murray and Raducanu a bye into the mixed doubles tournament on Wednesday. The Murray brothers received the same treatment for the men’s doubles tournament last week.
