Among the products that are likely to increase or even disappear from supermarket shelves this winter are yogurts and other dairy products. The reason: the explosion in the price of gas.

From a factory located in Jouy (Yonne), 42 brands of yoghurt come out. It is therefore one of the most important in France. However, she fears having to stop production, because in the event of a gas cut, it will be impossible to manufacture these products. “If we have more gas, we can no longer pasteurize the milk on reception, if we can no longer pasteurize the milk on reception, we can no longer receive”explains Patrick Falconnier, director of ultra-fresh Eurial.

A halt in production due to lack of energy would be unheard of in this factory, which employs more than 400 people, and which works mainly for mass distribution. These products are manufactured to be sold the very next day. So, should we fear a shortage of yoghurts in supermarkets? The consumers met by France 2 do not seem very worried. As a reminder, France is the world’s second largest consumer of yogurts behind the Netherlands.
