A blockade of the A64 motorway, in the south-west of France, has been carried out for several days by dozens of farmers. They contest the increase in several taxes.
This is the second consecutive day of blockage on the A64 motorway in Haute-Garonne, between Toulouse and Bayonne. The farmers are organizing themselves and say they are ready to hold out the siege for a long time. The dismay can be seen on their faces and the risk of going bankrupt is near for several of them. All denounce the end of the tax advantage on non-road diesel (GNR), an additional expense of 4 to 5,000 euros planned this year for certain farmers.
Unbearable environmental rules
On a departmental road at the entrance to Tarbes (Haute-Garonne), there too the farmers take action and block a roundabout. For them, environmental rules have become unbearable and they denounce more difficult access to water. Could this movement spread like that of the yellow vests? Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will meet the Farmers’ Federation on Monday January 22.
