Will Smith’s mother was surprised to see her son slap Chris Rock live on TV during the Oscars ceremony on Sunday night.

In an interview she gave Tuesday morning to a Philadelphia radio show, Carolyn Bright, 85, assured that she had never seen her famous son behave this way.
“He’s a very social person. It’s the first time I’ve seen him lose his temper like that. First time in his life … I’ve never seen him do that, ”she repeated on the airwaves of the local radio station of the ABC network.
Carolyn Bright said she spoke to Will Smith the day after the incident and advised him to go on vacation to rest. She also pointed out that she was very proud to see him win the Oscar for best actor for his performance in the film King Richard.
“I know how very hard he works. I waited and waited and waited and when I heard his name, I said to myself: yes!” she said.
