Purchases of candy, decorations and costumes: will Quebecers spend less this year on Halloween?

This could be the case, if consumers in the province follow trends in the American market.
According to data published by eMarketer on September 30, consumers in the United States could spend less money on this holiday in 2024.
The firm estimates that the population will spend $11.6 billion for Halloween in 2024, which is $400 million less compared to last year.
U.S. consumers will spend $3.5 billion on candy, $3.8 billion on decorations and $3.8 billion on costumes, according to eMarketer’s analysis.
Buyers’ habits have also changed in recent years, particularly with regard to when they make these purchases.
Nearly 45% of people purchase their Halloween items before October, compared to 32% in 2014.
Although this data is only for the United States, comparisons between Americans and Canadians can be made due to market similarities.
