The right is worried. Three days after the adoption of the immigration law, what will remain? The president of the Republicans, Éric Ciotti, asks the Prime Minister, in a letter, to “make a solemn commitment” that she will enforce the new immigration law.
Provisions that could be reviewed by the government
If the right increases the pressure to enforce this law, the left has already made it known that 32 departments will not apply it. “Sorting and questions about land law are not compatible with the rule of law in which we are,” said Anne Hidalgo, mayor (PS) of Paris. Certain provisions could be reviewed, according to the President of the Republic and several ministers, such as the creation of a deposit for foreign students. The immigration law is now in the hands of the Wise Men of the Constitutional Council.
