The bandleader’s brother, Win Butler, also played keyboards and percussion. He had been with Arcade Fire since the early 2000s. He recorded all of the band’s albums, including the next one, Werecorded in 2020-2021 and scheduled for release in May.
Will Butler tweeted that he officially left the band late last year after the final touches to the next album were completed.
He explained that there was no specific reason for his departure other than the fact that he and the band had changed. “The time to do something else has come,” he wrote. He added that he remained on good terms with the other members of the formation.
He also indicated that he was producing a new personal album and intended to present a few concerts during the summer. Among his other projects: the soundtrack for a play by David Adjmi.
Will Butler already has three albums as a leader, the latest Generation came out in 2020.
