Will voters who abstained during the European elections on June 9 turn out for the early legislative elections? Some explain their choice.
In Brie-Comte-Robert (Seine-et-Marne), a town of 16,000 inhabitants, and in Forbach (Moselle), 21,000 inhabitants, the population mainly abstained from voting during the European elections of June 9. Among the 54% of abstainers in the commune of Seine-et-Marne, some do not yet know what they will do for the legislative elections. “I am completely demotivated”confides Carine Cardosa, saleswoman, who does not identify with political parties.
In a working-class neighborhood, a house painter will not vote. For him, the theme of purchasing power is essential. In Forbach, abstention rose to 63%. Those under 35 are among the most demobilized categories. A retiree is going to vote to block it, even though he did not vote for the European elections. All these abstainers know that their vote will be particularly courted before the first round of the legislative elections, Sunday June 30.
