An evacuation order has been issued by the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District for communities near the Keremeos Creek Fire, which was discovered on Friday.

The order covers Green Mountain Road between Highway 3A to the south, Apex Mountain Road to the north, and the general vicinity of Lake Ford.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and the BC Wildfire Service says it is displaying “aggressive” and “unpredictable” behavior.

The service indicates that the fire is burning in an area unusable by air tankers and heavy machinery, but these resources remain in support.

It says there are 50 members of the BC Forest Fire Service, including structure protection personnel, units and parachute fire teams, now deployed to the fire.
