On the heights of Rouen in Seine-Maritime, wild boars devastate the gardens. Residents are frustrated by this situation.

For six months, wild boars have taken up residence in the middle of a residential area on the heights of the city of Rouen (Seine-Maritime). Neighbors are exasperated. “They return everything. They eat the flowers. They lay down the trees“, deplores Guy Billard, a resident. In the middle of the day, animals weighing more than a hundred kilos settle on the lawns and terraces of the inhabitants. In twenty years, Guy Billard had never seen this. He wonders: “Do we have to arm ourselves with a gun and shoot? In these cases, within an hour, the police will be there.

Palisades soon to be installed

A few meters away, Lilas Ferrar makes the same observation. She testifies: They eat. They go around. (…) They stirred everything up. I chased one and there was a huge one.” At least ten houses were visited by wild boars in the same neighborhood. Contacted, the town hall of Rouen indicates that palisades will soon be installed to deviate the trajectory of the animals. A study is also underway to estimate the wild boar population around Rouen.
