The UN General Assembly on Wednesday 12 October condemned a majority “overwhelming” them “illegal annexations” Russians from Ukrainian territories. The 193 Member States meeting urgently since Monday adopted this resolution with 143 votes in favor, against five countries against and 35 who abstained, including China, India, Pakistan and South Africa. London will give new anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine. The United Kingdom announced on Thursday that it would provide Ukraine with additional anti-aircraft missiles, including for the first time ammunition capable of shooting down cruise missiles. AMRAAM missiles will be provided “in the next weeks” in kyiv for use by the NASAMS air defense system promised by the United States.
The G7 and the IMF reaffirm their support for Ukraine. “The G7 will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary”, announced the finance ministers of the seven most developed democracies in a joint statement. The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, announced during an exchange with the Ukrainian president that the institution would work to create a permanent forum aimed at coordinating economic aid.
