Why was Stella Belmondo unable to attend the event that paid tribute to her father Jean-Paul?

Friday, February 25, Canal + highlighted the 47th Cesar ceremony which brought together all the cream of French cinema. Presented by Antoine de Caunes for the 10th time, the event paid tribute to many personalities who died in recent months.

We think in particular of Gaspard Ulliel, who died following a skiing accident last January. His friend, the Canadian actor and director, Xavier Dolan offered the most moving sequence of the evening.

The Académie des César also paid tribute to the memory of Jean-Paul Belmondo, who died on September 6, 2021 at the age of 88. Several excerpts from his impressive filmography have been shown on screen. At the Olympia, Stella Belmondo was not present.

Bébel’s youngest daughter revealed the reason for her absence, through a post on Instagram on Saturday February 26. “Unfortunately I had the Covid”, she wrote in the caption of several photos of her in a Chanel dress, as well as a snapshot of the poster for the biggest meeting of French cinema. Besides, it was not the only one to have had to forfeit at the last minute.

Carole Bouquet, who owed the first prize of the evening, the César for best female hope, was not present. “I’ll tell you the truth, the immense Carole Bouquet was to do us the honor of presenting the first César of the evening, unfortunately a PCR test decided otherwise, Carole, you are watching us, I kiss you very much”, announced the master of ceremonies. It was finally Franck Gastambide, who replaced her.
