The main reason why the current left is leveling off in Quebec as well as in France, or elsewhere in Europe, such here, a solidary Quebec which seems incapable of progressing to deliver its political merchandise, is that it is incompetent to respond adequately to the economic questions which make the world as it is, obliging each and everyone of us to participate, in particular through education and work. It spreads in a social left, denouncing injustices, inequalities between citizens, genders, cultures and other sub-groups of your choice, claiming to be the best doctor to treat their difficulties and misfortunes.
Great philosophical and political ideals, equality, luck and glory for all, freedom and absolute justice, remain unattainable and insufficient to remake the world. This social left took the place of the economic left which intended to question and regulate the excesses of capitalism, where what is called free market is not, in reality: propensity for monopolies, cartels and price controls , exclusive accumulation of capital by political and media powers, misuse of resources, ecological devastation, tax avoidance, violation of workers’ rights, foreign interference and rejection of state authority over the economic sector are all negative factors that we must learn to control and restrain in order to improve our society and our common good.
The left cannot ignore the economic fact. Maybe she is waiting for a revolution of capitalism, but that will not happen in our western society. Moreover, his social, multicultural, denunciatory and egalitarian fight does not only overlook economic criticism, but also good political management by the State of these excesses of current capitalism. Busy in other media fields, unable to establish an appropriate agenda of criticism and economic reform to contain them, she instead allows them to continue to thrive. Better living conditions for all citizens are at stake here, no matter who they are.
