The incidence rate of Covid-19 is trending to rise slightly for a few days in the Bas-Rhin in Alsace. 691 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants currently. Against 668 four days earlier. A very slight uptick.
In the Haut-Rhin, the incidence rate is down very slightly. The latest figure shows 616 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants against 622 a few days before.
In fact, these figures seem to indicate rate stabilization, after a very sharp drop in the previous weeks (as a reminder, the rate was nearly 4,000 on January 24 in the Bas-Rhin). As if a plateau had been reached.
So how to explain this, when health restrictions must be greatly reduced? (on March 14, it will be the end of the wearing of the mask in business and at school). Well according to the ARS, this could be due to a lesser application of barrier gestures, to a relaxation in their application, many Alsatians considering that the epidemic is over. The return from the February holidays could also have a role.
It remains to be seen how long this plateau will last. And if the rates will then go down again… or up.
