why the Dordogne could soon be affected

The strike continues in six of the eight French refineries
this Wednesday evening but the Dordogne remains for the moment spared by the shortages. Only a few Total stations are affected by occasional shortages, on certain fuels. However, the situation could change in the coming days because the Donges refinery in Loire-Atlantique has joined the strike
this Wednesday morning. 80% of employees are mobilized. But it is this refinery which supplies petrol stations in the Dordogne.

Around 95% of gasoline in the Dordogne comes from the Donges refinery

About 95% of the fuel in our department comes from Donges, according to Thierry Benteyn, New Aquitaine territorial manager at Mobilians, the representative of fuel distributors. The refinery supplies the Bordeaux and La Rochelle depots, which then supply the vast majority of stations in the department. Until then, the refinery did not participate in the strike. This is why the Dordogne was not affected by the shortages.

This Wednesday evening, there is still petrol at the pump, because there are still stocks in depots and petrol stations. “Ultimately, if the strike continues, there will be an impact, explains Thierry Benteyn_. The question is when.”_ It depends on the duration of the strike but also on the use of strategic stocks. And then obviously, it will also depend on the behavior of motorists. If everyone rushes to the pump, reserve stocks will quickly run out. “We remain vigilant”, confides the territorial manager at Mobilians.
