“Why is this happening to me?” : Clémence Castel “ashamed” at the start of her relationship with Marie

Clémence Castel created a surprise in 2021 by coming out. After spending twelve years living together with her husband Mathieu Johann, with whom she had her two children Louis (born in 2010) and Marin (born in 2014), the emblematic adventurer of Koh Lanta fell in love with a woman, a certain Mary. When it was announced, it had already been two years since she was in a relationship with the latter in complete secrecy.

But before getting there, Clémence Castel went through a long path of personal reflection and strewn with doubts. “I said to myself ‘But what is happening to me? Am I normal? Why is this happening to me?’ A little feeling of shame despite everything because me for years, I built a family, I built a home. But at the same time it was so strong that it was not possible to put a blindfold on my eyes and put all that aside“, she entrusted to Konbini.

So Clémence Castel ended up taking the plunge and declaring her love to Marie, whom she had met at her workplace. At that time, she had not yet left Mathieu Johann. “I already had to talk to her about it and see what she thinks. I had no idea how she was going to react. I said to myself: ‘at the worst I would take a rake, but it will be a nice rake.’“But Clémence Castel did not take a slap in the face since Marie’s feelings were mutual.”The relationship started that day“, she confessed. The double winner of the TF1 survival game then claims to have “rapidly“cleared things with her husband.”I had no desire to lie or have a double life“, she explains.

This moment was necessarily trying for the ex-couple, who later had the heavy task of making a point with their boys. “Already the first big part was to talk to them about the separation. So with the father of my children, we had a four-way discussion. They were 4 and 6 years old at the time. They were very young, it was a complicated moment. You have to find the right words, for small children, find words they understand“It was only a few weeks later that Clémence Castel started talking to them about Marie.

Today, we are in shared custody and every other week, there are four of us at home and we live together. I want to call us an ‘extraordinary’ family because we are not ordinary“, she rejoices.
