The world is offering its help to Morocco after the violent earthquake that hit the country. Proposals for aid do not always receive a positive response from those in power.
In mountainous regions where entire villages have been wiped out, residents are calling for help from the videos. Faced with the emergency, the Moroccan authorities have not launched an appeal for international aid. Since the G20 summit in India, Emmanuel Macron has recalled that France stands ready. “The second this help is requested, it will be deployed”, specifies the President of the Republic. Emmanuel Macron’s proposal comes in a climate of estrangement, in particular because of the reduction in the number of visas and the rapprochement with Algeria.
Spain allowed to help
In this context, certain countries were authorized to intervene. Morocco officially requested support from Spain, which sent 56 rescuers to help find survivors. Around sixty countries would be in the Rabat agreement. If accepted, French aid will consist of sending 150 clearing specialists who have already intervened in Turkey during the last earthquake.
