It’s time for the semi-final of the Coupe de France for FC Nantes! The Canaries host AS Monaco at La Beaujoire this Wednesday March 2 from 9:15 p.m. Seventh in Ligue 1, the people of Nantes will have a hard time facing the Monegasques, ninth in the championship. At France Bleu Loire Océan, we are convinced that Antoine Kombouaré’s players will win. And we explain why!
An XXL performance against PSG
If Nantes manage to achieve the same performance as against PSG on February 19, Monaco will not be able to compete. Remember that the Canaries delivered a huge performance and outclassed Neymar, Messi, Mbappé and company (3 goals to 1). Even if the match last weekend against Metz was more laborious, they showed that they had the means to bend any elite team. So why not AS Monaco?!
And then, the Monegasques haven’t beaten the Canaries this season… (Well, the reverse is also true but don’t repeat it)
La Beaujoire, a football haven
The match in the stands, FC Nantes has already won hands down! Impossible to compare a bubbling Beaujoire to a dull Louis II stadium. When the Monegasques have a few dozen supporters, the Yellow and Green have a whole people behind them. The proof in pictures !
The Atlantic outclasses the Mediterranean
Obviously ! There is no photo. Who wants to swim in lukewarm water with a few ripples when you can really cool off in the ocean and enjoy its magnificent waves? The sunscreen that floats on the surface, very little for us! We appreciate more the fishing trips at low tide, the surf spots and the rollers which amuse young and old. (We warned you that there would be a tiny bit of bad faith!)
We admit it, our friends from the south can enjoy the sea a little more during the year, the sun being (very slightly) more present at home. But remember all the same that at home, the weather is nice several times a day ! And that we rarely suffer from the heat wave.
Yachts are no match for Maillé-Brézé
Monaco, its billionaires and its yachts that flourish in the port and off the bay. But we, in Nantes, have two magnificent works that greatly outclass them: Maille-Brézéflagship of the French Navy classified as a historical monument, which was even one of the stars of the film “Dunkirk” by Christopher Nolan, and of course Belém, one of the oldest sailing three-masters in Europe. The sailboat represented France in London during Queen Elisabeth’s Diamond Jubilee and at the Olympic Games.
Nantes, a sweet and less expensive life
Nantes, its elephant, its parks, its cultural events… and its rents much cheaper than in Monaco! Yes, on the Rock, a 30 m2 studio costs on average more than one million euros. Globally, this is one of the territories where real estate is the most expensive. When in the City of the Dukes, we complain about the rising prices, it has nothing to do with Monaco and fortunately!
And then, at home, if we don’t have our feet in the turquoise water and palm trees to give us shade, we can enjoy much more greenery, the Machines de l’île, the Voyage à Nantes and a city center where you can still afford pants without breaking your bank account.
Muscadet VS Monaco
We can’t say that Monegasque specialties are known throughout France… Who has ever eaten a Barbajuan, this specialty from the Principality that looks like a ravioli stuffed with chard and rice? While the famous Petit Beurre de LU has accompanied children (and their parents) to teatime for many generations.
And to accompany a good fish or as an aperitif, don’t we prefer a nice little glass of Muscadet to a Monaco, a sort of cocktail made from beer, lemonade and grenadine, whose name would come from the color ingredients reminiscent of the Monegasque flag? In terms of gastronomy, Nantes has once again won the match!
