Stanley reusable cups are all the rage! On TikTok, influencers are showing off their HUGE collection of these colorful cups. With back-to-school season just around the corner, you might be wondering, “Do I need to get a Stanley too?” Let’s take a look.
What is a Stanley mug?
Not to be confused with the Stanley Cup! This is a large metal cup with a handle, lid, and straw. It comes in all colors and keeps drinks cold or hot. Yes, it’s just a beautiful bottle. Its price: about $60. That’s a lot more expensive than most water bottles!
Everyone has one!
The obsession with Stanley mugs is impressive. Last year, the company sold 10 million mugs. Imagine: that’s more than the population of Quebec! The company was founded in 1913, but its success dates back to 2021. It’s mainly because of social media, where influencers show off their mug collections.
Fashion moves fast!
Yes, Stanley cups are trendy. But before them, the “star” bottles were those of the Hydro Flask brand. Today, we hardly see them in the videos of popular influencers. That’s often the case with trends born on social networks: they can die out quickly. In fact, recently, another cup has started to gain popularity: the one from the Owala company. Are the days of Stanley cups numbered?
Manufacturing is polluting
We must also keep in mind that making all these bottles creates pollution! On the other hand, when we always reuse the same container, we give it a very long life. And polluting just once in your life is not so bad! But when we decide to buy dozens of reusable bottles, it is no longer eco-friendly at all!
Is it worth the price?
That’s up to you and your parents to decide. One thing is for sure: the Stanley mug costs a lot more than a lesser-known brand of similar quality. When you buy a Stanley, you’re mostly paying for the logo on it… and for a fad that might be over very soon. The important thing is to drink water (and that will never go out of style)!
