We can’t help it, when we talk about heating and winter, we have this image in mind: the old woman from time immemorial? picking up wood to heat his companion who is about to die – or a comparable image which is not necessarily the one written and then recorded, in 1958, by the immense Georges Brassens, and which inevitably makes something in us kick back when we are told about energy sobriety.
The anthropological reality of Western Europe is that we are afraid of the cold of winter and that, to lower the heating, it is less difficult to reprogram the thermostat than to deprogram some of our atavistic behaviors.
