Following “Retirement home” arrives and Kev Adams would not have missed the screening of the film at the Alpe d’Huez Festival for anything in the world. He who returned to the mountains, after an express operation for peritonitis, in Cannes, gave an interview to Parisian.
Jean Reno difficult to convince
Having become persona non grata, Gérard Depardieu, who played in “Retirement home”, appears briefly in the sequel, in a photo and in a flashback. Kev Adams, who does not want to enter into controversy, is mainly banking on the new guys: Chantal Ladesou, Amanda Lear, Michel Jonasz, Enrico Macias and Jean Reno. And he admits that the latter was difficult to convince…
Indeed, the 32-year-old star explains that with “lots of elegance”Jade Hallyday’s godfather told her “that he hesitated“. And added: “He accepted because he found that the first film did not make fun of old people“. With Daniel Prévost, Marthe Villalonga and Firmine Richard in the cast, Kev Adams admits: “I understand that it’s scary for actors to be in a movie called ‘Nursing Home’“.
And yet, the film’s co-writer defends: “This is precisely what this comedy is about: the fact that we are ashamed of our old people in France. Me, I believe that there is something very beautiful in old age, which is unfortunately too little highlighted“.
Soon a series “Retirement home” ?
After the belly of “As if by magic”, by Christophe Barratier, released in November 2023 and which had only 200,000 admissions, Kev Adams puts things into perspective: “it’s the game and what makes us celebrate success”. Even before “Retirement home 2” arrives on our screens on February 14, 2024, Kev Adams also announces that he is “discussion” with TF1+, for a “declination” of the film series.
