why buses and trams run less in Dijon?

This Saturday, June 16, 2022, a new strike notice is published by the CGT of the Divia group. On Friday July 15, 2022, the UNSA Divia also filed a strike notice. Since the beginning of July, the group’s employees have been on strike every Saturday, a movement that will last until the end of July 2022. As a result, the waiting time on the tram lines will be at least 15 minutes, 25 minutes for the buses (some buses will not run). Employees want to warn about their deteriorating working conditions and the lack of security.

For better working conditions

The Divia company lacks bus drivers, consequently, working conditions are deteriorating for employees, drivers and controllers. Despite proposals for solutions from the company, Olivier Sorez, union representative UNSA (National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions) fears that this is not enough: “travel times are too short, compared to what we have already experienced. With this rate, the drivers will be more tired and will end up leaving too”.

The other demand from Divia employees is a securing their workplace. Several incidents have erupted this year. In April 2022, controllers were attacked at the Godrans-les-Halles stop, fights also broke out at the Fontaine-d’Ouche terminus and several trams were attacked near the Drapeau stop or at Chenôve . “We would like more security services in complicated places”, says Olivier Sorez.

Other disruptions on the Divia network

Lately, several routes were truncated. Since June 30, 2022, Divia buses no longer serve the Fontaine-d’Ouche district from 8 p.m. Fights had broken out at the neighborhood terminus, company vehicles were also attacked. The company must decide on July 18, 2022 whether traffic will resume as normal.

Same principle for the T2 line: after a gravel pit in Chenôve on the evening of July 13, 2022, the company stops the circulation of trams from 8 p.m. The terminus is now located at the Bourroches stop, from July 14 until July 17, 2022 inclusive.
