The Regional Health Agency launches its mosquito control plan. The head of the health alerts department at ARS PACA is Jérôme Raibaud.
Is the mosquito making a comeback?
“Indeed, like every year in May. We are monitoring the establishment of the mosquito and also its proliferation. We are indeed seeing that mosquito concentrations are increasing. It also depends a lot on drought and rain. The increase in temperatures means that there is a resumption of mosquito activity.”
What is the danger with the mosquito?
“It carries diseases that are well known. Dengue, chikungunya, Zika, not covid. In certain circumstances, they can be very serious.”
So what do we do to avoid this proliferation?
“The first thing is toprevent the mosquito from breeding. We were talking earlier about uncontrolled development so everyone can act. How do we do? Avoiding all standing water, the mosquito needs water to be able to lay its eggs. You can put wet sand to maintain humidity for your plants. After, _you must also avoid being bitten by installing mosquito nets on the windows_sometimes using, when necessary, repellents or insecticides.”
Do Grandma’s Tricks Work?
“If it works, why not? I tend to say that we are on health issues and that the best adviser for health is a health professional. _Go to your pharmacist. He will be able to advise you on the right products adapted to the nature of your skin._.”
