Who will win the Gémeaux Emerging Talent Award? The five finalists revealed

The finalists for the next generation Gémeaux, unveiled on Tuesday May 30, 2023, are, in order, actress Nour Belkhiria from “Indéfendable”, comedian Louis Carrière from “Knights of Light”, actress Éléonore Loiselle from “ Disobey: the choice of Chantal Daigle”, the chef animator Olivier Louissaint of “Chef Oli turns country” and the actress Catherine Souffront of “The eye of the cyclone”.

This honor is awarded to a personality at the start of their career who stands out for their artistic talent and professional career. The Society for the Development of Cultural Enterprises (SODEC) will award a $5,000 scholarship to its winner.

The two finalists for the Gémeaux prize for the most successful production abroad were also announced on Tuesday by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television – Quebec section.

The first finalist for this distinction presented by the Quebecor Fund is the series Audrey came back, directed by Guillaume Lonergan and produced by Pixcom. Rewarded in 2022 for the prize for best comedy at the Gémeaux, Audrey came back is available on Club illico and was broadcast by Télé-Québec. The texts are signed by Florence Longpré and Guillaume Lambert. Sold internationally, the series won the Grand Prix Dior and the Special Prize for interpretation at the Canneseries festival in 2022.

The other finalist is the series For you Flora, written and directed by Sonia Bonspille Boileau. Produced by Nish Media, it was brought to viewers by ICI TOU.TV, ICI Télé and APTN. It won several awards, including Best Miniseries at the C21 International Drama Awards in London.

This highlights the export efforts and the influence of French-speaking Canadian productions abroad, in addition to rewarding ambassadors honoring talent from here, three years after the original French-language broadcast in Canada of the two series.

For her part, the scriptwriting consultant Emanuelle Beaugrand-Champagne is the winner of the Gémeaux des artisans, she who has worked in the industry for more than 30 years.

Script consultant Emanuelle Beaugrand-Champagne is the winner of the Gémeaux des artisans 2023.

Mme Beaugrand-Champagne, who has been a guest scriptwriter at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) since 2011, has notably supported screenwriters Louis Bélanger, Vanja d’Alcantara, François Delisle and Alexis Martin. His work is recognized on the series The parents And Guyssigned by Jacques Davidts, Can you hear me? by Florence Longpré and Pascale Renaud-Hébert as well as Let go by Isabelle Langlois. She has also been an assistant director, stage manager and distribution director, collaborating on films Flora Coffee by Jean-Marc Vallee, gas bar blues by Louis Belanger, Mr. Lazhar by Philippe Falardeau and Polytechnic by Denis Villeneuve.

Emanuelle Beaugrand-Champagne will accept her award at the Gala de l’industrie des 38are Gemini award.

The Gémeaux prize for emerging artists and the Gémeaux prize for the most successful production abroad will be unveiled at the Opening Gala.

As for all the finalists for the Gémeaux awards, they will be known on June 15.

Remember that the Gala des 38are Gémeaux Prize will be hosted by Pierre-Yves Lord and broadcast live on ICI Télé on Sunday, September 17 from 8 p.m. Nicolas Ouellet will host the other two events, the Industry Gala on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 7 p.m., on radio-canada.ca and on the Gémeaux Awards Facebook page, and the Opening Gala, on ICI ARTV, on Sunday September 17, 2023 at 3 p.m.
