Who to oppose Donald Trump?

Will the American Democratic Party succeed, before the next presidential election in 2024, in finding a winning leader to represent it, or is the popularity of the Republican Donald Trump irreversible? The influence of the latter on his party is obvious. Given the alleged millions of dollars flowing to him from his supporters, he doesn’t seem likely to face any opposition to his candidacy for the presidency, other than that of former Vice President Mike Pence, or the moderate Nikki Haley, as the primaries for the midterm elections get under way. If the games are made in this way, we get closer to the single candidate, then the single party, with a possible dictatorship to match.

The consequences of a possible return to the presidency of Donald Trump should not be underestimated. The latter runs on fiction, on the denial of reality, confusing truth and lies and managing to maintain confusion in the minds of his supporters doped with great again — nostalgia for an arrogant imperialism. […] The return of a president opposing a denial of the democratic system is fraught with threat. Not to mention his psychological instability, which is dangerous for peace, when it comes to the leadership of a country that does not accept seeing its world supremacy crumble. With China, President Biden is at least practicing risk management.

The Democratic Party, and democracy in general, offer a fragile bulwark against delirium and violence. A victory for the Republican party would mean another freeze frame for American democracy. […] The obscurity of fanaticism would replace the torch of democracy — which would result in no one’s advantage.
