In the absence of agreement between the New Popular Front, the Macronists and LR, the National Rally seems to have the power of life or death over all governments.

The Barnier government therefore survived, on Tuesday October 8, the motion of censure tabled by the left. As expected, it was not adopted. She only received 197 votes, far from the absolute majority of 289 votes needed to bring down the government. It was the refusal of the National Rally to vote for it that saved the day for Michel Barnier. The Lepenist party “burned” yet to do so, according to the expression of RN deputy Guillaume Bigot, but he held back. It’s too early for Marine Le Pen, who wants to pretend to give the government a chance. This leniency aroused indignation from the left, with the boss of the PS, Olivier Faure accusing the Prime Minister of “give pledges to the extreme right”, and launching: “You go from the Republican front to the Republican affront.”It is true that three months after the July 7 vote, the Republican front is well and truly dead.
Who killed him? There are a lot of murderers. A bit like in Agatha Christie’s novel, Crime on the Orient Express, everyone went with their own stab. Emmanuel Macron by his cynicism, who chose to appoint a right-wing Prime Minister while LR only came in fifth position in the legislative elections and the right has never been so weak at the polls and in the Assembly, but also the left with its intransigence. The PS even undermined the chances of Bernard Cazeneuve, who summed up the maneuver of which he was the victim with this formula: “By excommunicating the most reasonable on the left, we end up having to endure the true right.” It was even Jean-Luc Mélenchon who gave the first stab on the evening of the second round of the legislative elections by demanding the application of the entire program of the New Popular Front.
The left certainly came out on top during the vote, the deputies of the New Popular Front repeated it again on Tuesday to justify the motion of censure, except that the only winner of the legislative elections was the Republican Front. As long as the New Popular Front, the Macronists and LR do not agree, it is Marine Le Pen who will have the right of political life or death over all governments, that of Michel Barnier today, why not a other, left tomorrow. On July 7, voters on the left, center and right overcame their partisan differences to come together on the essentials and push back the far right. Unfortunately, as is often the case, their representatives do not live up to those who elected them.
