The 27-year-old American singer has already won five Grammy Awards, an Oscar and an Emmy Award.
It was HER who had the difficult task of performing the American anthem on Sunday, August 11, during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games. The 27-year-old artist sang The Star-Spangled Banner after the presentation of the Olympic flag to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. This artist, who willingly cultivates a part of mystery, appeared with dark glasses, her trademark. When her first songs were released in 2016, she had also chosen to keep her identity secret.
Gabriella Wilson, her real name, was born to an African-American guitarist and a mother of Filipino descent. HER – an acronym for “Having Everything Revealed”which could be translated as “Having revealed everything” – released a first album in 2018 entitled HER. She further increased her notoriety in 2021 with her title I Can’t Breatheinspired by the anti-racist protests that shook the United States after the death of George Floyd, killed by a police officer.
Last February, the R&B singer had already participated in the big show given at the halftime of the American Super Bowl, alongside Usher. She has already won five Grammy Awards, an Oscar for best original song – Fight for You for the movie Judas and the Black Messiah – and an Emmy Award.
