who is Terry Birles, the man who scammed him (and who doesn’t exist)?

Even the greatest actors can be fooled by comedy. It is probably not Dany Boon who will say the opposite. Indeed, according to our colleagues from the Irish Examiner, the comedian was reportedly the victim of a scam by a wealthy Irish heir known by the pseudonym Terry Birles. The latter would have managed to embezzle several million euros from the actor by offering him to collaborate with the company South Sea Merchant’s Mariners Ltd Partnership (SSMM).

The goal ? Maintaining the yacht of the scammer in question. For this, Dany Boon would then have paid 2.2 million euros, as well as 4.5 million in a scheme affiliated with the Irish Central Bank, reports Here is. Only problem, the money in question was actually paid into Panamanian and South Korean accounts and the authorities would have seized everything.

nobody exists

But how did it all really happen? Our colleagues from Progress were able to obtain additional information and indicate that Terry Birles announced to Dany Boon that the SSMM company had been bought by an Italian family, the Rossi. It was at this point that Kad Merad’s sidekick asked to get his money back but was thrown around by a “member” of the Rossi who replied that the money had been transferred to accounts in South Korea and in Panama. Even if this one assures him that he would see his money again “soon”, it is not so.

Later, Terry Birles explains to the actor that he was fired from the company and advises him to sue them. But as our colleagues explain, the Italian family does not exist, “neither the Irish Central Bank investment, nor the yacht insurance company. The companies set up in different countries all point to…a DIY store in Samoa”. Ditto for Terry Birles who would actually be a pseudonym used by Thierry Fialek-Birles, like Terry Waterford-Mandeville. A well-executed scam that could harm Dany Boon for a few more years…
