Contortionist Arthur Cadre stars in this dreamlike interpretation of the origins of Olympism.

A moment of grace, in a dark, deserted world shrouded in mystery. The “Golden Voyager” (“golden traveler” in French), a character with golden reflections, descended from the skies before landing before the eyes of the public at the Stade de France, Sunday August 11, during the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. Illuminated by lighting effects, with a strong use of chiaroscuro, this captivating figure is the central theme of the evening.

The motif is inspired by French historical heritage, according to its designers, such as the Genius of the Bastille – a bronze statue that tops the July Column – but also by creatures from video games and science fiction.

This “Golden Voyager” tells the story of a quest for the Olympics, through an encounter with the goddess of victory Nike. This central role is taken on by Arthur Cadre, a Breton dancer known for his flexibility, revealed at the age of 14 in the show “La France a un incroyable talent” in 2007. The artist has already lived in five countries and danced in around fifty cities around the world, from Rome to San Francisco, via Cairo and Zanzibar… He has also participated in sporting events, such as the Superbowl.

There will definitely be a bit of breakdancing in what I do, but not only that, there is also a lot of theatre, circus and magic.”he explained to France Télévisions before the ceremony, while trying on the belt that allows him to be suspended. On his back, an extravagant costume created by the Swiss Kevin Germanier, who designed all the outfits for the evening with recycled fabrics. The epic music was composed by Clément Mirguet. It’s an incredible experiencesums up the dancer, and it was still on my ‘to do list’ to participate in this kind of show.”
