Four small children and two adults were injured. Their news is “positive”, according to Emmanuel Macron, who went there.
While children were playing yesterday morning on the playground of the Pâquier esplanade, in Annecy (Haute-Savoie), a 31-year-old Syrian man injured with a knife four babies, aged 22 to 36 months, and two adults. At the bedside of the victims of the attack, Friday June 9, Emmanuel Macron brought news “positive“Yesterday, two children were still in absolute emergency.”Everything that was told to me is going in the right direction, the doctors were very confident,” added the Head of State, visiting the prefecture of Annecy.
According to public prosecutor of Annecy, Line Bonnet-Mathis, two of the injured children are “some tourists”. One of them is a 22 month old Dutch girl. She was transported to Geneva for surgery. She is now “out of danger”, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. Another child, aged 3, is of British nationality. She was taken to Grenoble hospital. “She watches television, and it’s a bad memory already“, assured Emmanuel Macron.
The other two little victims are two 2-year-old cousins, Ennio and Alba. They were helicoptered to be hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Grenoble. As reported in Parisian Alba’s great-grandmother, it was the grandmother of the two children who accompanied them to the park at the time of the tragedy.
A seriously injured adult
In his escape, the assailant injured two adults. Yusuf Meric, 78, a retired oil industry engineer, was stabbed in the left arm as he sat on a bench after riding his daily bike ride. Asked by The Parisianhe tells : “He walked past me and then tried to kick me in the stomach. That’s when I had the reflex to push him away with my arm.” Superficially injured, he was taken care of on the spot.
Finally, the assailant stabbed a 70-year-old man several times. The victim was subsequently shot during the police intervention. The septuagenarian is in a worrying state, but Emmanuel Macron affirmed that he had “wake up”.
The city of Annecy has announced that it will organize “this Sunday at 11 a.m. a citizen rally in support of the victims and their loved ones“, where the attack took place.
