The Nupes displays new faces the day after the second round of the legislative elections, Monday, June 20. Many of them, from the left alliance, are entering the National Assembly for the first time.

The Nupes, the left alliance, brings together 133 deputies the day after the second round of the legislative elections, Monday, June 20. It’s a lot, but it’s far from the majority which was the objective of Jean-Luc Mélenchon. He will therefore not be Prime Minister… So who are the new faces of this unprecedented alliance between left-wing parties? Some are known, others less so. This is the case of Rachel Keke. The trade unionist and chambermaid by profession is elected for the first time. Civil society activists, essayist writers, figures experienced in politics: the faces in the Assembly are as varied as the political tendencies within Nupes.

Some will come from afar like the independence student Tematai Le Gayic. At 21, he is the youngest deputy ever elected in the history of the Fifth Republic. Others, like Aymeric Caron, defended a form of radicalism on television sets. This time, they return on the same level to play politics. With Jean-Luc Mélenchon now withdrawn from the Assembly, it will be up to his heir, Manuel Bompard, to bring these new deputies into the hemicycle.
