Faced with an epidemic of early bronchiolitis, pediatric services are in great difficulty in many cities. Some children even had to be transferred to other regions.
Pediatric services are overdue, Tuesday, November 1. Saturated, the emergencies lack caregivers in the face of the influx of sick children. In Bordeaux, with 170 new patients admitted every day, the service is not holding up. “Usually, at this time of year, we dedicated a unit, which we armed. This means that we had 15 beds deployed, where there were medical and paramedical personnel. Today, we no longer have the possibility of activating this plan“, explains Laurence Chiche, health executive.
Everywhere in France, the services are overwhelmed by an epidemic of early bronchiolitis. In Île-de-France, for lack of beds, 31 children had to be transferred for treatment in other regions. The hospitals of Rouen, Bordeaux, Limoges and Le Havre have activated their white plan – an emergency system to deal with an exceptional health situation. But for lack of staff, some hospitals are forced to close their emergency services.
