Many European countries are re-establishing strict health measures against the Omicron variant. France is almost an exception.

Faced with the Omicron variant, France is playing the vaccination card, sticking to the closure of nightclubs and the encouragement of caution. However, other countries in Europe are gradually closing in. In the UK, where the Omicron variant is dominant, the government has announced it will not rule out further restrictions for Christmas. Ireland, meanwhile, has instituted an 8 p.m. curfew for bars and restaurants.

Food and culture venues in the Netherlands are also closing and locals are now only allowed to host two people in their homes, except from December 24-26 and on New Years. Denmark is also closing its places of culture and theme parks for a month. Finally, some European countries are implementing border restrictions: Germany imposes a quarantine on unvaccinated French, British and Danish travelers.
