The day after the attack in Israel, a video made the rounds on social networks. It would show Israeli children taken prisoner in cages by Hamas. Seen hundreds of thousands of times, it has sparked numerous comments. If Hamas did kidnap Israeli children, they are not the ones shown in the video. Posted on TikTok, it has since been deleted.
The factory of disinformation, a weapon in its own right in conflicts
As a screenshot attests, it dated at least four days before the events. Same thing with another video. Its author claims that it would show the participants of the rave party, near Gaza, where Hamas caused nearly 200 victims. They are actually fans who arrive at a concert, three days before the attack, but in Tel Aviv.
In posts published on Twitter or Facebook, Internet users announce, with supporting photos, the capture of an Israeli soldier, known to have led a division in Gaza. But it is false: the information was denied on television by the daughter of the arrested man, who recognized her father.
