I would like to purchase a full-size, seven-passenger SUV with 5,000 lbs of towing capacity. I must mention that I am 6’6”, which makes some models less accessible! With a budget of around $50,000, I thought of the Buick Enclave, Honda Pilot and Hyundai Palisade. Did I miss any other important models?

Hello Eric,
There’s no shortage of choices in this coveted segment. Of the most interesting, actually consider the Hyundai Palisade and the Kia Telluride, its close cousin. Two versatile vehicles, well equipped and capable of accomplishing all the desired tasks. The same goes for the Pilot, which has an excellent reputation. It should be noted that it will be redesigned very soon (for 2023), since its design is now aging.
You might also like the Buick Enclave, especially because it’s spacious and very comfortable, but it won’t offer you the same equipment/price ratio. You should know that it is a lagging model in the segment, which affects its depreciation compared to others. Buick’s advantage, however, lies in its more attractive financing rates, which is once again explained by the low interest shown by customers.
Personally, and considering your size, I would tend to direct you to the Volkswagen Atlas which, although disappointing in places in terms of finish, offers an incredibly spacious cabin with plenty of clearance at all levels. This vehicle is equipped with reliable and robust mechanics in addition to adopting remarkable handling, even when towing. So, if you can’t find your account at Hyundai or Kia, Volkswagen could be a very good alternative.
In closing, add the new Nissan Pathfinder to your list, as it has a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs. Moreover, it is very spacious, and the configuration of its cabin could seduce you.
