This is one of the puzzles that must be solved in the holiday notebook Threats in space, The investigations of the little geniuses from CM1 to CM2, published by Larousse. Béatrix Lot is the author. “Space is one of the favorite subjects of children aged 8-10, like magic, animals, sports. Quite often, holiday notebooks rhyme with chore. If all the activities in the notebook can be focus on the child’s favorite theme and that in addition these notions covered in class help him to collect clues and enrich his knowledge, then revising becomes intriguing and fun for the child and the adult.
In this column, Béatrix Lot shares with us a little trick to memorize the names of the eight planets of the solar system. It also helps to remember the order of the planets in relation to the sun: “Sir, you work badly, I’m a novice”or, “My old turtles just step on a Ninja”.
The first letter of each word corresponds to the first letter of a planet. In order we find: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and finally Neptune. The planet which has an inverted direction of rotation with respect to the others is Venus.
