It is a movement that is developing among large French companies, some of which are making record profits: LVMH, Stellantis, Air France… Several large French groups have announced in recent weeks exceptional bonuses or wage increases to support the purchasing power of their employees, diminished by inflation and the energy crisis. Here are some of the main announcements.
LVMH
The luxury group LVMH and its various brands announced Thursday, September 29 the payment of a bonus of between 1,000 and 1,500 euros to 27,000 employees whose gross annual salary is less than 60,000 euros.
This amount is in addition to the 600 to 1,000 euros of exceptional bonus already paid in January 2022, specifies LVMH in a press release. LVMH will pay this year “more than 400 million euros” to its employees, in addition to other “value sharing” schemes.

Stellantis
The Stellantis automotive group resulting from the merger of PSA and Fiat-Chrysler announced Tuesday, September 27 an additional bonus of up to 1,400 euros for 60% of its French employees, including temporary workers, without increasing wages.
All employees will also have the opportunity to monetize up to three days of RTT, or 400 euros on average for a worker and 600 euros for a manager. The bonus, however, did not calm the anger at Stellantis, several factories having walked out the day after the announcement while the company has excellent financial results.
SNCF
The SNCF rail group has “raised wages by almost 6% on average” since the beginning of the year, has provided management, with in particular an increase of 3.1% on average in fixed salaries in July, with retroactive effect from April 1, a bonus of 400 euros and an increase in holiday bonuses .
Bouygues
Bouygues will pay a “value sharing bonus” between 500 and 1,000 euros depending on the salary. “In addition to the annual salary review”wages increased in December 2021, March 2022 and September 2022 for an increase of more than 6% in compensation over one year in France, all measures combined, says the group.
Crossroads
The management of Carrefour proposed at the end of last week a 2.5% increase in wages on November 1 in addition to the allocation of a bonus of 100 euros, also extending until March 31 the discount on purchase of 12 % benefiting employees. The majority union Force Ouvrière has announced a consultation of its members.
The post office
The La Poste group announced in September an additional 1.5% increase in wages, in addition to the 2.5% increase in mandatory annual negotiations (NAO) or the revaluation of the index point for civil servant postal workers. .
Macif
The insurer Macif will pay 1,000 euros in October 2022 then 500 euros in January 2023 and announced a “general wage increase in 2023”the terms of which remain to be negotiated.
Air France
Air France granted a 5% wage increase to all its employees in mid-September, along with a bonus of 1,000 euros for a full-time employee. The increase will be “paid in advance” of NAO 2023, and phased in over the coming months, the group said.
Groupama
The employees of Groupama Assurances Mutuelles and its main subsidiaries received in December 2021 the “Macron bonus” of a maximum of 1,000 euros before an additional bonus of an amount between 400 and 850 euros, depending on the salary. Several regional mutuals have also announced similar bonuses for September 2022.
TotalEnergies
TotalEnergies employees benefited in 2022 from a salary increase of 3.5% on average, according to the group, which announced on Wednesday September 28 an exceptional dividend of 2.62 billion euros in total paid to its shareholders in December 2022.
A strike for purchasing power at the call of the CGT forced the group on Wednesday to shut down its largest refinery, near Le Havre in Normandy. The hydrocarbon giant will increase its investments in renewable energies by one billion euros, according to a press release published on Wednesday.
