Journalist and doctor Damien Mascret takes stock on set of the Covid-19 epidemic in France, Wednesday September 14.

The number of Covid-19 contaminations is on the rise again, Wednesday September 14, with 25% more on average on a daily basis. “Even if the percentage looks spectacular, but it’s always like that when the numbers are low”, analyzes the journalist and doctor Damien Mascret. Obviously the re-entry effect plays according to him, since “the most spectacular increase concerns the under 20s.”

In addition, new vaccines, better adapted to the variants, are arriving on the market. RNA vaccines have not changed since the start of the epidemic. They are based on the strain that appeared in China in Wuhan responsible for the first wave in 2020. It is also the one currently used in the recall. The new RNA vaccines will therefore combine this Wuhan 2020 strain with the Omicron 2022 strain to be more protective. Damien Mascret warns: “You should not wait for these new vaccines if you have to do a booster because they will not arrive until October, but the eighth wave is starting.”
