The Constitutional Council has updated the list of sponsorships received by the candidates. Some are already guaranteed, or almost, to reach the 500 mark. The others have until March 4.
While he is not yet a declared candidate for his succession, Emmanuel Macron has already exceeded the 500 signatures necessary for his candidacy. Other candidates will also have no difficulty in gathering these signatures, either because they are invested by important and well-established organizations locally, or because they are supported by powerful networks, explains journalist Catherine Demangeot .
This is particularly the case of Valérie Pécresse, with 324 sponsorships, or Anne Hidalgo, with 266 sponsorships, both supported by historical parties which still have many elected officials. Fabien Roussel and Nathalie Arthaud, with respectively 159 and 138 sponsorships already obtained, are also on the right track to be able to compete in the election next April.
