In the section “An idea for France” from 1 p.m., Monday, October 31, journalist Valérie Hurtel takes us to Provence where an association offers young people to settle for six months in small rural towns in order to revitalize the village.

For six months, the village of Lieuche (Alpes-Maritimes) has taken a facelift. Tanguy, 20, and Déborah, 24, have put their suitcases there. These civic service volunteers worked at the municipal library. “When we arrived, we had to put everything away because it was a bit of a mess”, says Deborah. Before, the two young people did not know each other but they had the same project: that of experiencing life in a rural town.

The project was possible thanks to an association which organized their visit. Housing is taken care of by the municipality, the young people receive a monthly allowance of 490 euros paid by the State and in exchange, they undertake to animate the life of the village. The mayor is delighted with this initiative. “They work very well, besides we don’t want them to leave”, says Denise Leiboff, mayor of Lieuche. The results are also positive for the young people who have not suffered from isolation thanks to the reception of the 47 inhabitants of the village.
Present on the 13 Hours set, Monday October 31, journalist Valérie Heurtel also talks about another platform, Agrivillage, which allows you to book a stay on the farm and put yourself in the shoes of a farmer.
