A few days ago, the tundra caught fire in the Russian Far East. According to Greenpeace, this would be a consequence of global warming.

The tundra is in flames, in Russia, Wednesday, November 3, while in this season it should be covered with snow. It is -10 degrees in the Magadan region, in the far east of Russia. Several hundred hectares caught fire. To try to suffocate the fire, the Russians use whatever means they can: a few fir branches. “The vehicles are on their way, but the water has frozen because of the cold”, says a man. The reinforcements will eventually arrive and succeed in stopping the advance of the flames.

A tough fight. In recent years, winter fires have become more frequent, according to Greenpeace. There are several at the moment in Russia. According to the NGO, this would be a consequence of global warming. After minimizing the phenomenon, Russia has initiated a change of discourse, but strong acts are long overdue, explains France Television journalist Luc Lacroix.
