Before these remarks, on the channel, a black screen replaced the programs to introduce the solemn announcement of the death of the queen. “The BBC interrupts its programs to bring you an important announcement”, thus warned the presenter. The channel then broadcast a slideshow of photos of Elizabeth II, on the British national anthem, God Save the Queen.

At midday, the BBC had decided to interrupt its programs and switch to a special edition to cover the worrying state of health of the queen. Shortly before noon, Buckingham Palace said the Queen had been placed “under medical supervision” in his Balmoral castle. Throughout the afternoon, the presenters and correspondents of the chain were already dressed in black, to report on the seriousness of the state of health of the queen.
