This magnificent album, winner of the Prix Jeunesse des libraires in the 0-5 year-old category in 2017, has just been reissued in “all cardboard” format to the test of small “devourers” of books. They will no doubt want to be read and reread dozens of times this story of the childhood and adolescence of Santa Claus. It is difficult not to fall under the spell of this both tender and funny story of the genesis of this character that one can hardly imagine without his white beard. He is a little boy more inclined to offer gifts than to ask for them, lover of coldness and explorer of fireplaces… The text, set with cultural references which will make parents smile and with repetitions which will make their offspring happy, has for sumptuous setting the very beautiful illustrations with retro allures of Geneviève Godbout. These also give this holiday book a timeless character that propels it to the shelf of instant classics.
